A. Bach; Mozart; Lang Lang--he's a very cool pianist

A. Evening news and weather; otherwise, I don't watch TV (I'd rather be reading)

A. Do it right the first time, or maybe the second or third.

Q. Is there a book you love to reread?
A. I can't keep up with all the books I haven't read and want to read, so I never read the same book twice.
Q. Do you have one sentence of advice for new writers?
A. Learn to accept criticism of your work; it's the only way to grow.
Q. What comment do you hear most often from your readers?
A. "You've turned me on to history!" I disliked history when I was young, and I'm happy when I can make it exciting for today's young readers.
