- A. I can finally see the blessings.
- Q. What is your motto or maxim?
- A. The truth will set you free. It might not make you rich and popular, but it will certainly set you free.
- Q. How would you describe perfect happiness?
- A. Living absolutely in the present, with no thoughts of the future. And a cup of Earl Grey tea very close at hand.
- Q. What’s your greatest fear?
- A. Plane crashes. I'm not afraid of flying. Not anymore. I'm afraid of the plane crashing. There's a difference.
- Q. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?
- A. Exactly where I am, but in a slightly better mood.
- Q. With whom in history do you most identify?
- A. This question runs the risk of wishful thinking. I identify with Oscar Wilde. But I wouldn't compare my work to his.

- A. My mother
- Q. What are your most overused words or phrases?
- A. In writing or when I speak? "Sort of" or "a kind of". I find myself trying to root out those weak-kneed qualifiers that pepper too many of my sentences.

- A. I regret it the most when I break someone's confidence.
- Q. If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?
- A. Anything that allegedly comes from the right side of the brain. I'd like to be better at mathematics and spatial relationships.

- A. Quitting smoking. It was literally the most difficult thing I have ever done.

- A. I worry too much.

- A. I'm generous.

- A. A bird, so I could fly.

- A. People who shout into their cell phones at restaurants or in the gym

- A. Reading
