My Life in 8 Words

Author Revealed

Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. Character is what you do when no one else is watching.

Q. How would you describe perfect happiness?

A. A chai latte, laughing so hard it hurts with my best friends, a vanilla candle, that feeling that happens at midnight at New Year's Eve, The Beach Boys on a record player. And of course when the writing is going so well I forget to look at the word count or the clock.

Q. Who is your favorite fictional villain?

A. I don't know that she's a villain, more of an anti-hero, but I can't get enough of Scarlett O'Hara from Gone with the Wind.

Q. Which living person do you most admire?

A. During college and my early 20s I was an actress, and my college acting teacher, Vicki, changed my life. She was brave, compassionate, strong, vulnerable, and totally present in each and every moment. I don't know that I've ever admired anyone more.

Q. If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?

A. I wish I could draw. Or paint. Or sculpt. Or participate in any kind of visual art.
