David Liss is a proud science fiction geek. When not acting like a total fanboy, he’s generally working on his books, stories, and comics. Liss has written eight bestselling novels for adults, most recently The Day of Atonement, and is the author of numerous comics, including Mystery Men, Sherlock Holmes: Moriarty Lives, and Angelica Tomorrow. He lives in San Antonio, Texas.

Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. Anxiety makes everything better.

Q. Which living person do you most admire?

A. Jane Goodall -- scientist, advocate, author. Pretty much the whole package.

Q. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?

A. I'd choose to be answering these questions! How's that for living in the moment!

Q. If you could meet any historical character, who would it be and what would you say to him or her?

A. I'd go with Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel, the creator of the legendary Golem of Prague.  Mainly I'd ask him to walk me through the ins and outs of golem manufacturing.

Q. What is your biggest pet peeve?

A. People saying "less" when they mean "fewer." Also, while were at it, "incentivize." Can people actually believe this is a word?

My forthcoming novel, Randoms, is not only my firstbook for younger readers, it’s also my first science fiction novel, and in someways it is long overdue. I grew upreading almost nothing but science fiction, fantasy, and horror – and while I’vewritten in those other genres, Randoms is my first time indulging inspace ships, aliens, space battles, futuristic technology, and ray guns.
