- A. Law to Poetry; saw the light!
- Q. What is your motto or maxim?
- A. Why not?
- Q. How would you describe perfect happiness?
- A. Wonton noodle soup for breakfast...a school visit with enthusiastic, prepared kids...no traffic on the way back home...a sushi dinner with my husband and son...emails from friends...finding a new poem...falling asleep with the fragrance of gardenias blowing through the window screens. Yes, that would be Perfect Happiness!
- Q. What’s your greatest fear?
- A. blindness
- Q. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?
- A. My answer to this changes too frequently to give a good answer!
- Q. With whom in history do you most identify?
- A. In another life, I think I was a dog...or the invisible in-between friend of Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet.
- Q. Which living person do you most admire?
- A. There are so many, but one who stands above many of the rest is the Dalai Lama.
- Q. What are your most overused words or phrases?
- A. "I'll do it tomorrow": I am a terrible procrastinator.
- Q. What do you regret most?
- A. Fortunately I don't have many regrets. I'm very good at blocking out bad memories!
- Q. If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?
- A. I would like to be able to swim like a fish (or dolphin). I often dream about that, and wrote a poem about it in NIGHT GARDEN: Poems from the World of Dreams.
- Q. What trait is most noticeable about you?
- A. Probably that I usually wear all black--or almost. My son used to say that I looked like a panda!
