Joseph A. Califano Jr.

Joseph A. Califano, Jr., is founder and chairman of The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University. Califano graduated from College of the Holy Cross and Harvard Law School. After holding various United States government positions, from 1977 to 1979 Califano served as U.S. Secretary of Health, Education, where he launched the nation’s anti-smoking campaign.
