Kristen-Paige Madonia

Kristen-Paige Madonia is the recipient of the Sewanee Writers’ Conference Tennessee Williams Scholarship and the New Orleans Literary Festival/Tennessee Williams Fiction Prize. She is a graduate of the California State University, Long Beach MFA program, and her short fiction has been published in New Orleans Review, American Fiction: Best Previously Unpublished Short Stories by Emerging Writers, and Sycamore Review, among others. She has been awarded fellowships from the Vermont Studio Center, the Juniper Summer Writing Institute, Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Hedgebrook Writers’ Retreat, the Millay Colony for the Arts, and the Studios of Key West. Q. What were your previous occupations?

A. I've worked as a nanny, a jeweler, a receptionist, a Kindergarten assistant, bookstore clerk, substitute teacher, wine pourer at a vineyard, freelance editor, and intern at a film and literary agency in Beverly Hills.

Q. Name of your favorite composer or music artist?

A. It depends on my mood and what kind of writing I'm working on, but favorites tend to include Grateful Dead, Iron & Wine, The Civil Wars, Avett Brothers, Railroad Earth, Blind Pilot, and Neil Young.

Q. What is your favorite movie?

A. Also too hard to pick just one, but Wonder Boys, Garden State, Almost Famous, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind fall at the top of my list.

Q. Where did you go to high school and/or college?

A. I went to high school in Martinsville, VA, and I received my BA from James Madison University
