Nomi Eve

Nomi Eve is the author of The Family Orchard, which was a Book-of-the-Month Club main selection and was nominated for a National Jewish Book Award. She has an MFA in fiction writing from Brown University and has worked as a freelance book reviewer for The Village Voice and New York Newsday. Her stories have appeared in Glimmer Train Stories, The Voice Literary Supplement, Conjunctions, and The International Quarterly. She is currently a lecturer in the creative writing program at Bryn Mawr College and lives in Philadelphia with her family.

Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. Gather around the table, eat, talk, laugh, love.

Q. With whom in history do you most identify?

A. I'm a fiction writer, and I generally write historical fiction, so I honestly have to say that the person in history I most identify with is the next person I will probably make up.

Q. What’s your best quality?

A. I am persistent and rather convincing if I need to be.

Q. What’s your greatest flaw?

A. I am not very good at answering these questions, I fear.

Q. What are your most overused words or phrases?

A. I tend to describe eyes in my writing. I have to remember that people have other body parts.
