A. Selling my old 1964 red V.W. bug.

A. Playing the violin or cello.

A. Stopping smoking. I used to smoke two packs of Player's a day.

A. I am judgmental and impatient.

A. Sense of humor and ability to talk to anyone about anything.

A. I would be a 2011 Harley Davidson Road King with street pipes.

A. My calmness.

A. I would like to meet Rabbi Leon Modena, 17th century Venetian rabbi, whose autobiography I read, and ask him if there wasn't something- anything- that gave him pleasure in his life. Such a crotchety old boy!

Q. What is your biggest pet peeve?

A. People who keep me waiting.

Q. What is your favorite occupation, when you’re not writing?

A. Pruning. I love to prune anything and everything, from hedges to palms trees to vines.

Q. What’s your fantasy profession?

A. Writng brilliant prose every day.

Q. What 3 personal qualities are most important to you?

A. Sense of humor, clean fingernails, and a clear conscience.

Q. If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your days, what would it be?

A. Peanuts- the greasy kind with lots of chili and salt.
