Q. What is your favorite occupation, when you’re not writing?

A. Thinking about writing. Reading... But I do a lot of things: garden, knit, do altered photography, make jewelry, sculpt things. I love to repair almost anything and I love going to yard sales. I usually have a basement full of chairs, and I even wrote a poem about reupholstering a chair.

Q. What’s your best quality?

A. I listen.

Q. What do you regret most?

A. Moi, je ne regrette rien.

Q. What is your greatest achievement?

A. My family and children. They are their own greatest achievement, but my greatest happiness.
