'Jumping' into the Authors Portal!
By Scott M. Fischer - May 10, 2011
Hey everyone! Let me say how thrilled I am to be a part of Simon and Schuster's Author Portal! Beyond that, how thrilled I am to be a part of the larger Simon and Schuster family.
I imagine I will be stopping in here often to talk about the nutty stuff I am up too!
Currently my excitement for my third illustrated children's book for S&S, Lottie Paris, has be jumping out of my shorts! It is written by the AMAZING Angela Johnson, and all about a spunky little girl who will absorb us into her unique world.
I wanted the art to reflect her uniqueness and spontaneous spirit, so it is the most creative book I have illustrated by far. Using paint rollers, sand paper, lino cut, foamy stamps, crackle paint and about anything else I could get my hands on, I drowned myself into her reality and came out with something I hope everyone will find as exuberant as Lottie her self!
I was so inspired that when I delivered the artwork to Simon and Schuster, I packaged it in a fuzzy pink portfolio with glitter letters and buttons galore! (My wife and daughter helped me build it and I think there is still glitter in the carpet!)
I can't wait for the word to see it this August (2011). How will I sleep till then?
