Q. What is your motto or maxim? A. Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. (Plato) Q. What are your most overused words or phrases? A. "It's better than a sharp stick in the eye." Q. With whom in history do you most identify? A. The author Henry Beston. Though I am not nearly as talented as he, his observation that animals are not our brethern and not our underlings, but "other nations" resonates deeply with me. Q. If you could be any person or thing, who or what would it be? A. It would be wonderful to be almost any animal, to see what life feels like from their perspective. Q.
