Taeeun Yoo was born in Korea and grew up in Seoul in her grandfather's beautiful garden-house. As a child, she watched her great-grandmother make traditional Korean costumes, and watched her grandfather carefully observe his orchids and bonsai. Now her grandfather often appears in her illustrations. She studied Korean brush painting at Hong Ik University in Korea, and moved to New York to attend graduate school in illustration at The School of Visual Arts. She lives in New York City.
