Q. What is your biggest pet peeve?

A. I want to shake people who have no empathy ; it's not that difficult to imagine yourself in another creature's -- human or animal-- skin (or exoskeleton) and imagine he/she has not had your advantages. Piece of cake, really!

Q. What 3 personal qualities are most important to you?

A. Loyalty, sense of humor and empathy

Q. Who is your favorite fictional hero?

A. Scout in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD and Patty Bergen in SUMMER OF MY GERMAN SOLDIER are two girls of great moral courage!

Q. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?

A. I would be on Shackleford Banks, an uninhabited island off the coast of North Carolina., listening to the waves, revelling in the fact that I was surrounded by wild things.
