Yolonda Tonette Sanders

Yolonda Tonette Sanders took a leap of faith by resigning from her job with the State of Ohio to focus more on writing. It was a leap that she has never regretted, as several of her novels have been published, including Soul Matters, Secrets of a Sinner, and In Times of Trouble. All of her books have appeared on Essence’s bestseller list. Currently, Yolonda resides in Columbus, Ohio, and is the loving wife of David, proud mother of Tre and Tia, and joyful caregiver of her mother, Wilene.

Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. Thanks to Tony Horton from P90X, I find myself saying "Do your best and forget the rest," a lot.

Q. How would you describe perfect happiness?

A. I think happiness is a state of mind versus circumstances since it's possible to be happy or have joy no matter what's happening around us. Some things may weigh heavier on us than others, but with a loving family, faithful friends, and a merciful God, we can make it!

Q. With whom in history do you most identify?

A. King David because though I don't always understand God, I do trust Him.

Q. If you could be any person or thing, who or what would it be?

A. I don't want to be anyone else other than myself. If I could be a thing, maybe I would be a tree.

Q. What do you regret most?

A. Saying or doing something that hurt the people I love.
