Yolonda Tonette Sanders

Yolonda Tonette Sanders took a leap of faith by resigning from her job with the State of Ohio to focus more on writing. It was a leap that she has never regretted, as several of her novels have been published, including Soul Matters, Secrets of a Sinner, and In Times of Trouble. All of her books have appeared on Essence’s bestseller list. Currently, Yolonda resides in Columbus, Ohio, and is the loving wife of David, proud mother of Tre and Tia, and joyful caregiver of her mother, Wilene.

My Life in 8 Words

Author Revealed

Yolonda Tonette Sanders
Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. Thanks to Tony Horton from P90X, I find myself saying "Do your best and forget the rest," a lot.

Q. Who is your favorite fictional hero?

A. Michael Scofield from the television series, Prison Break.

Q. What’s your greatest fear?

A. I honestly have no idea. Maybe failing my children somehow.

Q. What are your 5 favorite songs?

A. Lol. My husband would probably say my "favorite" songs continually change. However, there are five that are consistently on the list. "I Almost Let Go," by Kurt Carr because it reminds me of how good God has been to me. "Still Say, Thank You" by Smokie Norful because it represents how I feel about God. "He Loves Me" by Jill Scott because it makes me think of my husband. "In Times of Trouble" because it's the theme song for my novel. "Cupid Shuffle" because I like doing the dance.

Q. If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?

A. Playing basketball. It is my favorite sport, besides volleyball, and I cannot play at all.
