On Books and Writing
Q. How did you come to write Light of Burning Shadows?
A. I'm fascinated by T.E. Lawrence, and the movie Lawrence of Arabia with its vast panoramas of sand and dunes inspired me to set a fantasy in a desert locale. With the setting determined, I then set about developing the characters further, especially their views on the Blood Oath and the Empire.
