My Life in 8 Words

Author Revealed

Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. Fie upon this quiet life. I want work!

Q. If you could meet any historical character, who would it be and what would you say to him or her?

A. How can you ask a historical novelist that question and expect her to come back with just one character? I’d want to meet everyone I’ve ever put into one of my novels, from William Shakespeare and the boy apprentices to Meir of Rothenberg to King Nebuchadnezzar and the prophet Ezekiel. What would I say to them? “Did this really happen the way I imagined it?”

Q. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?

A. London. Of course, it would be a better trip if I could go back in time, too.

Q. What trait is most noticeable about you?

A. I’m the quiet one.

Q. If you could be any person or thing, who or what would it be?

A. The Dark Lady. I’d love to know who I am. And sleeping with Shakespeare would be quite a bonus.
