Author Revealed

Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. Fie upon this quiet life. I want work!

Q. How would you describe perfect happiness?

A. Those rare moments when everyone important in my life is thriving.

Q. If you could meet any historical character, who would it be and what would you say to him or her?

A. How can you ask a historical novelist that question and expect her to come back with just one character? I’d want to meet everyone I’ve ever put into one of my novels, from William Shakespeare and the boy apprentices to Meir of Rothenberg to King Nebuchadnezzar and the prophet Ezekiel. What would I say to them? “Did this really happen the way I imagined it?”

Q. Who is your favorite fictional villain?

A. Dr. Doom.

Q. What are your 5 favorite songs?

A. “Greensleeves,” “American Pie,” “The Shoop Shoop Song,” “Save the Best for Last,” “Short Skirt Long Jacket”
