BRUCE will hit its official on-sale date on October 30, which means you can snap up, say, 100 copies and drop them into the kiddies' Halloween bags. A generous gift, but if you do it you'll be a hero, and all your neighbors won't ever stop talking about it. I swear.

Oh lord, this Simon & Schuster blog tool -- so cruel, so whimsical, a techno-fascist of the highest regard -- just deleted this big blog entry I wrote. It's a long and gruesome story, and of course I had a hand in the cock-up myself, which only makes it worse, so argh.

Whatever, let's start the BRUCE blogging here with a bulletin about the preview reading I'll be doing at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ, on September 16.

Hey everyone. Thanks for checking out my page here in the middle of the Simon & Schuster galaxy. What fun to be here. I hope you feel the same way. Here's a story I read on Oregon Public Broadcasting a few weeks ago; it's about Beatles Rock Band, and how the Beatles themselves were so much like so many of us: members of a really normal, really dysfunctional family.
