Tim Gallagher

Tim Gallagher is an author, wildlife photographer, and magazine editor, currently editor-in-chief of Living Bird, the magazine of the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology. He lives in Freeville, New York. He helped bring to light the only living images of an Imperial ever taken; when Cornell released the recently rediscovered 1950’s footage, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0OCd6b1aXU, it drew over 100,000 viewers in a few days.

Q. With whom in history do you most identify?

A. Carl Lumholtz, a Norwegian explorer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Q. What is your favorite occupation, when you’re not writing?

A. Nature photography.

Q. What is your biggest pet peeve?

A. I hate hypocrisy.

Q. How would you describe perfect happiness?

A. Living on a faraway island with all of my family and closest friends—with only a sailboat for transportation. And of course, enough great food, wine, and books to last a lifetime.
